Trauma Informed Practice is a full\u00ad\u2010day training designed to increase individual success and well\u00ad being in Nunavut. It helps participants understand how to better support individuals who have experienced trauma, whether first-\u00ad\u2010hand, vicariously, or intergenerationally. Participants do not need any formal preparation to attend the training. We encourage all frontline and service staff to take this training, from support through administration. We also recommend supplementing this training with Inuit Cultural Competency Training available through various agencies in Nunavut, including IIKELC. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Throughout the training, participants will learn what trauma is, how it may manifest itself in impacted individuals, and the impact that trauma might have on an individual’s behavior. Participants will also learn trauma informed strategies which will help them learn how to adopt the lens of trauma informed practices so that they can positively respond to individuals who are suffering or have suffered trauma. Lastly, participants will learn strategies of how to respond to disclosures of trauma.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This interactive training involves direct instruction combined with small and large group discussion. Participants will receive handouts to supplement training and digital resources providing more detail on trauma informed practice. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
