In 2008, in recognizing the need for a collaborative effort and approach to addressing suicide in Nunavut, the Government of Nunavut, Nunavut Tunngavik Incorporated (NTI), Isaksimagit Inuusirmi Katujjiqatigiit Embrace Life Council (IIKELC), and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) (the partners) formed a partnership with the purpose of creating a Nunavut Suicide Prevention Strategy (NSPS). The strategy was completed in 2010 and its accompanying first three-year Action Plan was released in October 2011. Inuusivut Anninaqtuq (United for Life) is Nunavut’s third suicide prevention action plan; this report details the actions we completed from 2017-2022.
