Talking to Children About Suicide

Suicide

A childrens book for families to support a grieving child

Over the years, IIKELC has received many requests for a resource to support families in talking to their children about suicide. In response to these requests, we have created a children’s book called “Talking to Children About Suicide” that follows the story of a child attempting to understand and process this type of loss.

This book is also a companion to the IIKELC workshop “How to Talk to Children about Suicide“. The workshop describes how children are affected by grief and what families and friends can do to support a grieving child

Please note that this book is not for a child to read alone. It is for parents, caregivers, or professional caregivers to read with them.

We hope this resource can help families navigate these difficult conversations. Please know that you are not alone.

Talking to Children About Suicide is available in Inuktitut, English, Inuinnaqtun and French; you can request it by emailing embracelife@inuusiq.com.
