The Embrace Life Council, Isaksimagit Inuusirmi Katujjiqatigiit, is a non-profit organization. Our mission is to support and encourage Nunavummiut to value life. Embrace Life Day is coming up on September 10 (World Suicide Prevention Day).
On September 10, Nunavummiut gathered in communities across Nunavut to show their support for suicide prevention, to remember and celebrate the lives of those who have died, to comfort those who grieve, and to strengthen their connection with each other. During Embrace Life Day, we remember that we are all united with each other, through shared experiences, sorrow, hope, determination, commitment, and compassion.
IIKELC held an annual walk in Iqaluit, Nunavut on Monday, September 10, 2018, to honour those who have died by suicide, strengthen our connection with each other as a community, and reaffirm our commitment to life. See below for activities preceding Embrace Life Day.
